Buckhead is the uptown commercial and residential district of the city of Atlanta, comprising approximately the northernmost fifth of the city. Buckhead is the third largest business district within the Atlanta city limits and a major commercial and financial center. Buckhead is anchored by a core of office buildings, hotels, shopping centers, restaurants and condominiums centered around Loudermilk Park, the spot where Paces Ferry Road, Peachtree Road, and Roswell Road convene. There, the Buckhead Village District is an outdoor shopping center that offers high end retailers, sophisticated cuisine, art, and cultural events.

First developed in the early 1800s, Buckhead was originally populated by farmland and became a popular destination for wealthy business owners in Atlanta to build vacation homes. In time, major shopping centers such as Lenox Square, originally an open air mall founded in 1959, and later Phipps Plaza cemented the area as a retail haven. When Tower Place was constructed in 1974, the area became a hot spot for office development.

The majority of the residential areas around Buckhead consist of large estates with single family homes in a wooded setting. Winding roads connect massive luxury homes with lush landscaping. Meanwhile the Peachtree Road corridor, especially in recent years, is populated with a number of high rise construction projects.

Buckhead has earned a reputation as an elite community made up of a number of distinct neighborhoods. Residents enjoy boutique shopping experiences, fine dining, a number of greenspaces including the 200+ acre Atlanta Memorial Park which is home to the Bobby Jones Golf Course and Chastain Park which features a horse park, pool, golf course, sports fields, and more. Pedestrian projects such as the northern swath of the BeltLine and Path400 aim to connect communities with one another.
