Avondale Estates

DeKalb County | 30002

Just east of Decatur and inside the perimeter of I-285, the design of Avondale Estates was inspired by Stratford-upon-Avon in England. The “downtown” is made of tudor-style buildings that house gift shops, salons, music shops, restaurants, and an old movie theater which has recently been granted new life as a live music venue. This community is known for its great thrift stores, and a surprisingly diverse array of restaurants which include Pho, Greek, Mexican, Central and South American, BBQ, pizza, and more.

The neighborhood to the south of N. Avondale Road features beautifully manicured lawns, divided streets, and a captivating array of home styles. Here you will find Avondale Lake, Willis Park, and the Museum School. To the north, the community is home to Beech Hollow Wildflower Farm, Andersson Farms, a robust brewery scene (with accompanying open container laws allowing you to bring your drinks from one brewery to the next), My Parents Basement which is a restaurant which includes comic books and pinball machines, and the Your Dekalb Farmers Market.
