The Polar Bear Jump is a New Years Day Inman Park tradition where dozens of brave souls jump in the freezing pool.
It’s the very first party of 2016, right here in Inman Park. It’s a social event, a family outing, and a hangover cure all in one happy gathering! We still insist that it has cured the common cold.
Rain, sleet or snow…we jump! Just bring your swimsuit and a towel and join in on the icy plunge. Or just come watch and cheer on your friends and neighbors (over Irish coffee!). More than 100 bold souls showed up last year and more than half jumped! The festivities begin at 10AM on January 1, with the jump scheduled for 11AM.

There are lots of reasons why people are either by themselves on Christmas or without good food to eat - work, family complications, job loss, geography, health, economics, etc. But no one should go without great food and great people to share Christmas with! So this Christmas, for the fourth year in a row, we'll be hosting our Christmas Community Feast - a collaborative meal made possible by some neighbors volunteering to bring cooked dishes, some neighbors volunteering to serve, some neighbors volunteering to eat with others, and some neighbors for all three.
This meaningful and memorable event only happens because wonderful people like you help out and show up. Here are ways you can be a part of this incredibly beautiful experience:
1. Help get the word out to neighbors, friends, and co-workers. Everyone is welcome.
2. If you would like to sign up to bring or drop off food or serving items, email Nathan Dean atNathan@EdgewoodChurchAtlanta.org. The targeted drop-off time is between 12:00 and 12:30 on Christmas Day. But other arrangements can be made beforehand.
3. If you would like to come and help set up, serve and greet people, please arrive at 12:00.
Celebrate the Alliance’s 25th anniversary staging of the beloved Dickens classic and the all-Atlanta cast you’ve come to treasure. On Christmas Eve, miserly Ebenezer Scrooge is visited by three ghosts—the spirits of Christmas Past, Present and Future—who help him see his life more clearly and teach him that it is never too late to change. A magical tradition for the whole family, and a great way to celebrate the season.

This year’s lineup includes a custom, modern version of Frank Lloyd Wright Prairie style construction, a quintessential and beautifully renovated 1929 bungalow that retains many of its original features, a charming 1922 bungalow that is set among beautiful gardens on one of the neighborhood’s two remaining brick paved streets, and three other fabulous homes consisting of both historic homes transformed for the modern world as well as new construction.
Local restaurants will provide food tastings at each of the Tour homes. These restaurants include local favorites, such as Murphy’s, Highland Tap, Atkins Park, The Cook’s Warehouse, El Taco, Fontaine’s, San Francisco Coffee Roasting Co., Savi Provisions, and Marlow’s Tavern.
