Taste of Atlanta
More than 90 local restaurants, including Bartaco and Buttermilk Kitchen, will prepare bites at Taste of Atlanta for attendees to enjoy. Watch as local grill masters prepare food on a Big Green Egg, attend workshops and a Chef’s Table during this two-day festival Oct. 22-23. Noon-7 p.m. Saturday, noon-6 p.m. Sunday. Visitors will enjoy the gorgeous landscape designed by one of America’s most celebrated landscape architects, Fredrick Olmsted Sr. along with over 125 displays of fine arts and crafts, folk and “outsider art”. In addition to the fine arts, there will be a children’s area and local food and beverage. Attendance is Free. Hurricane Matthew blew some extra help Homestead's way. Judy Henderson (left) took heed of a Charleston, SC evacuation order and headed to Atlanta to stay with her friend, and Homestead Realtors President, Susan Schlittler. And what better way to forget about rain/wind than to hit the Atlanta Beltline to participate in our bi-monthly trash pickup along the Virginia Highland section Homestead adopted. Joining Judy and Susan was Odalys (Susan's daughter) and four-legged best friends Buddy and Winnie.

The weekend begins on Friday night (Oct. 7) at 7 pm, with an official Atlanta Pride Kickoff Party at the Georgia Aquarium. The actual Pride Festival takes place throughout the two-day weekend (Oct. 8 and 9, 2016), and includes plenty of top-notch entertainment on the stages at the festival grounds in Piedmont Park, as well as a Pride Marketplace (held from 10 am until 7 pm on Saturday, and 2 pm until 6 pm on Sunday) featuring some 200 vendors and organizations from the greater Atlanta GLBT community. Featured entertainment this year at the Atlanta Gay Pride Festival includes Jason Maek & Zaena, Kiiara, Zara Larsson, Jody Watley, the Michael Jons Band, and many others. The annual Pride Parade, held on Sunday, October 9, begins at noon (floats and participants begin assembling around 10:30 that morning), departs from the Marta Civic Center Station, and ends at Piedmont Park. |
