A HUGE thank you to everyone who came out to Peachtree DeKalb Airport last night for our Oktoberfest Social. How cool was it to watch planes from the old control tower? Uh, VERY COOL!!!
Nights are getting cooler. Have you pulled out your fleece blankets and noticed they are a bit worn or just don't fit your color scheme any more? Don't throw them out. Both DeKalb and Fulton Co. animal shelters need fleece blankets and towels. You may drop off donations at Homestead's office at 867 Greenwood Ave. between 10 AM - 2 PM, Monday through Friday. Daylight is dwindling and there's a nip in the air. Yup, it's time to bring out the Crockpot for some delicious - and easy - evening meals.

Hurricane Matthew blew some extra help Homestead's way. Judy Henderson (left) took heed of a Charleston, SC evacuation order and headed to Atlanta to stay with her friend, and Homestead Realtors President, Susan Schlittler. And what better way to forget about rain/wind than to hit the Atlanta Beltline to participate in our bi-monthly trash pickup along the Virginia Highland section Homestead adopted. Joining Judy and Susan was Odalys (Susan's daughter) and four-legged best friends Buddy and Winnie.

Atlanta's Pride celebration centers around a handful of events over three days each October. The weekend begins on Friday night (Oct. 7) at 7 pm, with an official Atlanta Pride Kickoff Party at the Georgia Aquarium.
The actual Pride Festival takes place throughout the two-day weekend (Oct. 8 and 9, 2016), and includes plenty of top-notch entertainment on the stages at the festival grounds in Piedmont Park, as well as a Pride Marketplace (held from 10 am until 7 pm on Saturday, and 2 pm until 6 pm on Sunday) featuring some 200 vendors and organizations from the greater Atlanta GLBT community. Featured entertainment this year at the Atlanta Gay Pride Festival includes Jason Maek & Zaena, Kiiara, Zara Larsson, Jody Watley, the Michael Jons Band, and many others.
The annual Pride Parade, held on Sunday, October 9, begins at noon (floats and participants begin assembling around 10:30 that morning), departs from the Marta Civic Center Station, and ends at Piedmont Park.
